Welcome to MCC NOVA!

Metropolitan Community Church of Northern Virginia is committed to creating a vital and adventurous spiritual community for all people, preparing for our work in the world through an engaged and growing spirituality that is relevant 24/7. We are a welcoming and affirming progressive spiritual community with a specific outreach to LGBTQI people and our allies who are seeking authentic spirituality and renewal through varied celebration experiences, educational and social enrichment opportunities, and tangible expressions of love through social justice and outreach opportunities.

Whether you are a current member, attender, or a old friend, we would love to see you.
Our worship begins Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m.

Be sure to check the coming events page for happenings in our community!

Dec 19, 2021 – The Fourth Sunday in Advent

eWeek 92 – Join us online Sunday at 11AM – https://www.facebook.com/pg/MCCNoVA/
Afterwards, watch the archived video of the service at https://www.facebook.com/MCCNoVA/videos/
Sunday Program/Order of Service is here (PDF file with songs)
Readings:
First Reading ~ First Reading ~ Colossians 3:12-16
Second Reading ~ “I Would Be True” ~ In Song

Rev. Emma Chattin, Preaching: a long journey: Love
To Journey is fascinating. It is not simply movement from Point A to Point B, it is everywhere in between, and it is where everything happens! And there is almost always movement within, and some new life kicking around inside of us. And while many may wish to rush the journey, it is very often the journey that prepares us for the destination.

LOOKING FORWARD and Getting Together –
Next Steps
Attendance in the facility during worship requires advance “check in”
to let us know you are coming. Why? Our Seating is limited.

There is physical distancing. Masks are required. We are also requesting folks be fully vaccinated (if that is an issue, please let me know). Until we have some better data, there will be no congregational singing. Finally, we are providing enhanced airflow and filtration (the motion of air reduces the risk of COVID-19 transmission).
While all reasonable safeguards are taken, there will always be some measure of risk, and each person will need to make their own determination as to what is best for them. SO GET READY! CHECK IN!
Let us hear from you!

Send an email to RevEmmaChattin@gmail.com with “I’ll Be There” in the subject line if you plan to attend as soon as the option is available. “Not Yet” if you are getting closer, but not quite there yet.
A big thank you to all who have responded thus far!

If you are unsure of your member status, please contact Rev. Emma or Frank Vance.

In addition, the Board term of Frank Vance and Sue Biggs will end this year, and the term of Sarah Huggins as Lay delegate will also be ending. Consequently, church members will be voting on two Church Board Openings, and the Lay delegate position. Thank you good and faithful servants!

Church members will also be voting on a Bylaw change, one that reduces the number of Board members required on MCC NoVA’s board, setting the number more in alignment with current membership. The Congregational Meeting packet is available here!

CHURCH – What Does It Look Like? (updated 12/4)
Church work looks like many different things. It can look like liturgy, it can look like Bible Study, it can look like reaching out to connect with others.
On the week of November 21… it looks like this,
and the week of November 28… it looks like this.
What’s going on AROUND MCC NoVA?
(updated 12/3)
University One Development
The next time you visit MCC of Northern Virginia, the surrounding area will look very different. Construction of University One is under way and progresses daily. This is a development designed to house over 800 people, the vast majority being George Mason University Seniors and Graduate Students, along with a parking deck to accommodate over 700 vehicles.

December Fundraiser

MCC NoVA usually scheduled (and budgeted for) 1 – 2 fundraisers each year: Basket Auctions, Yard Sales, Dances…. These were great in-person social events! Unfortunately, that has not happened for the past two years due to COVID.
If the Ministry of MCC NoVA has ever touched you, anything you can do to help is a blessing and appreciated!
The church has hopes and plans for the future, including increased community outreach at our soon-to-be neighbor, the University One Facility currently under construction, and establishing an LGBTIQ Community Center in downtown Fairfax.

Help us to make these real in 2022 & 2023!

Frank Vance, MCC NoVA’s Vice Moderator, is holding a Fundraiser for MCC NoVA on Facebook. A great fundraiser for a great cause!

2022 MCC NoVA Stewardship Looking Forward!

A New Year ~ New Possibilities
MCC NoVA’s vision for the future is to continue outreach and ministry to marginalized communities,
and to become an LGBTIQQ Community Center in the Heart of Fairfax City!

As the church looks toward next year, we definitely understand the shifting financial landscape for our community. We are also aware of the many possibilities that stretch out ahead of us in 2022.

A financial Pledge does not obligate you, but rather it provides a hopeful idea of potential community growth and involvement, and helps the church prepare a budget to make the most of our resources and better allocate funding.

Think of your pledge as HOPE for the future, with the possibility of making it real.
2022 MCC NoVA Pledge Sheet

PS: You don’t need to be a member of this church in order to be a part of our community and support its ministry! 🙂
