Remembering Dan Bahadur Lama Tamang

UPDATE

There will be a Funeral Service provided and coordinated by the Tamang Society of Greater Washington at the Baker-Post Funeral Home, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia, on Sunday, July 28th, 2019, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Unfortunately, Dan’s daughter and son-in-law were denied a visa by the US Embassy.

It is with sadness that we announce the death of the man we knew simply as “Dan”; the kind, gentle, homeless soul who often attended our services and helped Cory with hospitality meal preparation. He died several weeks ago, and there were some challenges in locating his next of kin. Thanks to some investigative work by Rev. Emma and Cory, his Daughter and son-in-law were recently located in Katmandu, Nepal, but were unable to obtain a visa from the US Embassy to travel to the US.

In the process of locating his next of kin, Rev. Emma connected with the Buddhist temple in Montgomery County, MD, who were familiar with Dan, and upon learning of his death, rapidly began the process of prayers for him, culminating in the 49th day ceremony. In the Buddhist tradition, the period between death and the 49th day is the time for the soul to check the consciousness and digest their kharma.

Dan’s full name was Dan Bahadur Lama Tamang. The Lama Clan of the Tamang people is an ancient priestly Clan. Included is a photo of Dan’s 49th Day Ceremony. We also honor Dan’s memory during this time. Please continue to hold his family in your prayers.

Namaste
