Darwin Dale Bradshaw
August 3, 1958 – October 17, 2025
It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I announce MCC NoVA church member, Darwin Dale Bradshaw, died peacefully on October 17 at the Prince William Medical Center surrounded by friends and family. His beloved husband, Lee Shadwick, held his hand, songs were sung and prayers were offered. Dale was 67 years old.
Dale began attending MCC NoVA in February 2017, and became a member on October 20, 2019. He served the church in many capacities: as a Congregational Care Minister, Team Co-Lead of the Homeless Ministry and the Meeting Entertainment and Event Team (MEET), and briefly served on MCC NoVA’s Board of Directors. He participated regularly in worship, serving as a Greeter, Reader, and Communion Minister. Offering the Community Prayers during worship was an important ministry for him, and held a special place in his heart.
Additional information regarding a celebration of life will be forthcoming.
If you would like to share any memories or thoughts of Dale, you may send them to me, with “Dale Bradshaw” in the subject line. Thank you.
In Peace & With Love,
Rev. Emma
MCC NoVA PRAYER AND CARE

MCC NoVA’s Verger – Margot Scheiffley
What is a Verger?
Specific duties vary from church to church, but a Verger is generally a layperson who assists with worship, coordinates processions, provides assistance and hospitality to guests, assists with facility matters and upkeep, and plays a prominent role “behind the scenes”. It’s an ancient church position going back to medieval England when Vergers were responsible for clearing the way for processions using a ceremonial rod or staff (a “virge”). In today’s world a Verger basically does whatever needs to be done in order to clear the way for church to happen.
Margot is pictured above

Homeless Ministry Service – First Sunday of Every Month
We need your warmth to help provide warmth to this underserved community!
Please bring items to the church and we will store until that time.
Just an FYI-we serve between 104-125 meals each time we do this service. Let’s give generously!
Join us at our monthly feeding of the homeless on Sunday, Nov 2nd, 2025.
Our first meet up location is at 7:45am at the Home Depot on Blenheim Blvd (near Fairfax Circle). Our second stop is just down the street at Christ and St Luke’s church. Both are in Fairfax. We can always use extra hands!
While MCC NoVA has always contributed financially to FACETS, a nonprofit that aims to help meet the needs of those who suffer the effects of poverty and homelessness in Fairfax, we also actively contribute by physically assisting with the feeding of the homeless in Fairfax City, as well as helping to provide for their other needs, thanks to Team Leaders … and perhaps you? Volunteers welcome!
HOMELESS MINISTRY NEEDS:
Bananas, Applesauce Cups, Apple Juice, Tangerines, Feminine Toiletries, Socks, Wash Cloths, etc.
Please bring these items to the church by the end of this month so they can be distributed the 1st Sunday of next month.
THE FIRST SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH IS CAKE SUNDAY!
If you have a Birthday during the month
let us celebrate with you on the First Sunday (Oct 5th)!
